National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) is preparing to sign agreements with the State Bank of Vietnam and the Bank of the Lao People''s Democratic Republic to promote the use local currency in their economic activities.
There have been rapid developments in Viet Nam''s digital payment ecosystem in recent years due to efforts made by the Government to digitalise transactions in the public sector.
Vietnamese consumers are embracing digital payments as a faster and more convenient way to pay, with consumers using their credit and debit cards more often for in-store and online purchases, digital payment methods provider Visa said on Thursday.
“As more customers turn towards technology to conduct bank transactions, Viet Nam offers a huge potential for digital banking,” Priscilla Le, Senior Vice President, Indo-China & Singapore, MatchMove, said.
San Francisco-based digital payment platform, Paymentwall, is among the
few Silicon Valley companies to foray into Viet Nam, eyeing the
country''s burgeoning Internet and mobile consumer market.
